Hiring a 45-seater in Bengaluru
The workhorse of Bengaluru corporate transport: one vehicle, one driver, one manifest and forty-four seated colleagues. Here is what it costs, where it cannot go, and when a 33-seater is the better buy.
In short
A 45-seat AC bus in Bengaluru costs ₹48–₹65 per kilometre on outstation trips against a 350 km per day minimum, or ₹15,000–₹18,000 for a local 8-hour / 80-kilometre day, plus ₹800–₹1,000 driver bata per day. A Volvo or BharatBenz 45 runs ₹65–₹70 per km and ₹17,000–₹19,800 a day.

Standard AC, BharatBenz and Volvo — what the premium buys
All three seat 45. The difference is suspension, cabin noise, engine torque on a ghat and how tired the group is when it arrives.
| Class | Per km (AC) | Local 8 h / 80 km | Min km / day | Bata / day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard AC 45 — the default | ₹48–65 | ₹15,000–18,000 | 350 | ₹800–1,000 |
| BharatBenz luxury 45 | ₹60–70 | ₹17,000–19,800 | 350 | ₹1,000–1,250 |
| Volvo premium 45 | ₹65–70 | ₹17,000–18,000 | 350 | ₹1,000–1,250 |
| Mercedes-Benz coach 49 — step up | ₹75–85 | ₹22,000+ | 350–400 | ₹1,000–1,250 |
Is the Volvo worth ₹17 a kilometre more?
On a 700 km two-day Coorg charter the gap between a standard AC 45 at the bottom of its band and a Volvo at the top is about ₹15,000. Here is the honest answer on when that is money well spent and when it is not.
Worth it: any ghat route where the group has to work afterwards. The Nilgiri climb to Ooty, the Charmadi and Shiradi sections, the Sakleshpur ghat — air suspension and a quieter cabin genuinely change how a 40-person team arrives. Also worth it for anything client-facing, for overnight legs where people try to sleep sitting up, and for routes above 400 km one way where the extra torque means fewer gear-hunting crawls behind a lorry.
Not worth it: city work. A Volvo on an ORR shuttle loop or a hotel-to-BIEC venue run spends its day at 14 km/h in traffic, where air suspension is irrelevant and the premium buys nothing but a nicer photo. For event-day city hire, take a standard AC 40 or 45 and put the saving into a second vehicle so the headway halves.
The unpopular answer: for many 40-person groups the right vehicle is not a 45-seater at all. A 33-seat AC bus at ₹38–47 per km with a 300 km minimum is the cheapest seat in Bengaluru, and two 27-seat minibuses give you two pickup loops instead of one. We will say so before you book.
Boarding time, luggage and the manifest
Forty-four people do not board a coach in two minutes. Through a single door, with hand luggage, a realistic figure is eight to twelve minutes from first foot on the step to doors closed — longer if bags are going into the boot, because each bag is handled individually by the driver at the side hatch. For a tech-park pickup with a gate slot, that is the difference between making your slot and being sent round again.
Two things halve it. First, a printed or WhatsApp manifest with seat blocks by team, handed to a marshal who stands at the door — not read off phones at the step. Second, loading boot bags before the group arrives, which means the vehicle reports 20 minutes early and the bags come down to the lobby first. On offsite departures we build both into the plan and the coordinator's number is on the sheet.
Luggage capacity is the constraint people underestimate. A 45-seat coach boot takes roughly one cabin-sized bag per seated passenger. Forty-four people with a suitcase each and a laptop bag each will not fit, and on hill routes we will not stack bags in the aisle. If your group is checking out of a hotel and going straight to the airport, tell us at quote stage — the answer is usually a small luggage tempo running behind, not a bigger bus.

Where a 45-seater cannot go in and around Bengaluru
This is the section other operators leave out, and it is the one that saves a trip. A 45-seat coach is a rigid twelve-metre-class vehicle with a wide turning circle and low ground clearance at the rear overhang. Four constraints come up constantly on Bengaluru jobs.
Tech-park gates. Several Bengaluru parks route coaches to a specific gate with a boarding bay and refuse them at the main visitor gate. Manyata, ITPB and Electronic City Phase 1 all have coach-capable bays; some of the smaller Bellandur and Kadubeesanahalli campuses do not, and a 45-seater ends up boarding on the service road with security asking it to move. We check the gate before the day, not on the day.
Ghat hairpins. The Nilgiri climb into Ooty has 36 hairpins. A 45-seater manages them, slowly, but the rear overhang grounds on badly cambered bends and the climb adds real time. For Ooty and for the steeper Coorg approaches we recommend 33 seats or under unless the group genuinely needs 44 in one vehicle.
Resort and homestay driveways. Coorg and Chikmagalur estate properties routinely have a 200-metre private track that a coach cannot enter. The coach parks at the main road and a jeep shuttles the group and bags. Fine when planned, miserable when discovered at 7 pm in the rain.
Old-city lanes. Chickpet, Avenue Road, the Malleshwaram cross-streets and most of Basavanagudi are not coach country. If your pickup or drop is inside that grid, the honest answer is a 21-seat minibus or a staged pickup at a wide arterial nearby.
Questions we answer daily
What is the 45 seater bus rent per km in Bangalore?
₹48–₹65 per kilometre for a standard AC 45-seater, ₹60–₹70 for a BharatBenz and ₹65–₹70 for a Volvo, all garage-to-garage. Every rate is subject to a 350 km per day minimum, so a two-day trip bills 700 km whether you drive them or not, plus ₹800–₹1,250 driver bata per day.
How much does a 45 seater bus cost per day in Bengaluru?
₹15,000–₹18,000 for a local 8-hour / 80-kilometre day in a standard AC coach, ₹17,000–₹19,800 for a BharatBenz and ₹17,000–₹18,000 for a Volvo. Extended 10-hour / 100-kilometre days run ₹18,000–₹21,000. Outstation days are billed on kilometres, not a day rate.
Does a 45 seater actually seat 45 people?
It seats 44 passengers in 11 rows of 2+2, plus one crew seat beside the driver — that is the 45th. Build your manifest at 44 and keep the front seat for your coordinator or event marshal. If you have 45 travellers, price a 49-seater at ₹48–₹55 per km instead.
How long does it take 44 people to board a coach?
Eight to twelve minutes through a single door with hand baggage, longer if suitcases are going into the boot because the driver loads them one at a time. A printed manifest with seat blocks and a marshal at the door cuts it roughly in half, which matters when a tech-park gate slot is 15 minutes wide.
Is a Volvo worth the extra over a standard AC bus?
On ghat routes and overnight legs, yes — air suspension and a quieter cabin change how a team arrives at Ooty or Sakleshpur, for about ₹15,000 more on a two-day charter. For city shuttling at 13–15 km/h it buys nothing. Take a standard AC 45 and spend the difference on a second vehicle.
Can a 45 seater bus enter Manyata or Whitefield tech parks?
Usually yes, but through a designated coach gate with a boarding bay rather than the main visitor gate. Embassy Manyata spans 300 acres with multiple gates and 35+ companies, so the gate matters as much as the address. We confirm the gate and the slot with your facilities team before the day, not on it.
How much luggage fits in a 45 seater bus?
Roughly one cabin-sized bag per seated passenger in the boot, loaded by hand through the side hatch. Forty-four people with a suitcase and a laptop bag each will not fit, and we do not stack bags in the aisle on ghat routes. For airport-day checkouts we add a luggage tempo behind the coach.
What does a 45 seater bus from Bangalore to Coorg cost?
Two days bills 700 kilometres — 350 km minimum × 2 days, which is more than the 530 km round trip — at ₹48–₹65 per km, plus ₹1,600–₹2,000 bata. That is a charter subtotal of ₹35,200–47,500 before tolls, resort parking and GST. Quotes near ₹5,000 are one-way distance figures.
Should I book one 45-seater or two smaller buses?
Two 27-seat minibuses cost more per seat but give you two pickup loops, so a Whitefield and an Electronic City group can travel separately and meet at the destination. One coach is cheaper and simpler. Above three pickup points spread across the city, two vehicles usually win back the extra cost in time.
