Shuttle services for Bengaluru's tech parks

Which gate a coach can use, where the boarding bay is, and how much earlier a vehicle has to leave Whitefield on a Thursday evening. The operational detail that decides whether a shuttle service works.

In short

Bengaluru tech-park shuttles are sized by corridor, not by headcount. At the evening peak the city runs at 13.2 km/h — 45 minutes 27 seconds per 10 km, so a 12 km Bellandur-to-Whitefield hop is a 55-minute journey. Embassy Manyata alone carries 150,000+ professionals across 300 acres, which is why gate and bay assignment matters as much as the route.

Embassy Manyata, Nagawara

The largest single demand point in Bengaluru: 300 acres, 9.8 million sq ft, 35+ companies and 150,000+ professionals on the northern ORR. Multiple gates, and the right one depends on which block your team sits in rather than which company they work for. Coaches are routed to designated bays; a wrong-gate arrival can mean a kilometre of walking.

  • Northern ORR, Nagawara
  • Coach bays by block, not by tenant
  • Morning congestion builds from 08:15

ITPB / Whitefield

The oldest of the big campuses and the one with the worst approach. Whitefield Main Road and the Varthur route both queue from mid-afternoon. Shuttle design here is about getting the vehicle out of Whitefield, which usually means committing to one exit and not improvising.

  • Eastern spur off the ORR at KR Puram
  • Metro feeder demand is genuine here
  • Evening departures need a 40-minute buffer

Electronic City Phase 1–2

South of Silk Board on the Hosur corridor, with the elevated expressway carrying the through traffic and the service roads carrying the campus traffic. Phase 1 and Phase 2 are different operational problems and should rarely share a route.

  • Hosur Road corridor
  • Silk Board approach is the whole risk
  • Night-shift volume is high here

Embassy Tech Village, Devarabeesanahalli

On the ORR between Bellandur and Kadubeesanahalli, in the densest stretch of the ring. Vehicle staging space is limited at peak, so we stagger reporting times across tenants rather than sending six buses to one bay at 18:00.

  • ORR, Devarabeesanahalli
  • Staggered bay slots work better than convoys
  • Minibuses clear the approach faster than coaches

Bagmane Tech Park, CV Raman Nagar

Inside the ring rather than on it, which changes everything. Routes reach it from the ORR via arterial roads that are not designed for twelve-metre coaches. The 21 and 27-seat classes do most of the work here.

  • CV Raman Nagar, inside the ORR
  • Coach access is genuinely constrained
  • Good candidate for minibus-only routes

RMZ Ecospace & Ecoworld, Bellandur

Two adjacent campuses on the ORR at Bellandur, sharing the same approach and the same evening jam. Treat them as one transport problem with two drop points, and sequence the drops so the second campus is never the last stop on a night route.

  • ORR at Bellandur
  • Two drop points, one approach
  • Sequence matters more than route length

Prestige Tech Park, Kadubeesanahalli

ORR-facing, immediately east of Devarabeesanahalli, which means it shares the same queue. Its advantage is that a route can serve Kadubeesanahalli and Devarabeesanahalli in one pass without re-entering the ring — one of the few genuine efficiencies on this corridor.

  • ORR, Kadubeesanahalli
  • Pairs naturally with Embassy Tech Village
  • One pass, two campuses

Metro feeder runs

Namma Metro has changed the shape of demand on the eastern and southern corridors. A short, high-frequency minibus feeder from a station to a campus gate often beats a long home-pickup route on both cost and employee satisfaction — and it is the cheapest per-seat product we run.

  • 21-seat minibuses, high headway
  • Short loops, 8–15 minute cycles
  • Cheapest cost per employee of any shuttle

Night and 24×7 shifts

Night routes need an escort on board, a no-last-drop-female rule, a tested panic button and live GPS. They also need shorter routes: the traffic advantage at 01:00 disappears the moment a route has nine stops across three corridors.

  • Escort on board through the night window
  • Shorter routes, fewer stops
  • Backup vehicle staged on the corridor

Gate access, boarding bays and vehicle size

The single most common reason a Bengaluru shuttle runs late has nothing to do with traffic. It is a vehicle at the wrong gate.

Large campuses operate separate gates for employees, visitors, goods and contracted transport, and the transport gate is frequently not the one your team walks out of. At Embassy Manyata — 300 acres with tenants spread across multiple blocks — the difference between the correct bay and a convenient one is a long walk and a five-minute boarding delay repeated twice a day, every day.

Vehicle size compounds it. A 21 or 27-seat minibus can generally use ordinary access points. A 45-seat coach needs a bay with turning room and is routinely refused elsewhere. On campuses inside the ring — Bagmane at CV Raman Nagar is the clearest case — coach access along the approach roads is constrained enough that we design minibus-only routes and say so at tender stage rather than discovering it in week one.

What we do before a contract starts: confirm the gate and bay with your facilities or admin team in writing, drive the approach at the actual shift time, photograph the boarding point for the driver brief, and agree a fallback point if the bay is occupied. It takes a morning. It saves ten minutes a day for a year.

Sizing a shuttle: headway, vehicle count and the 85% rule

Two questions decide a shuttle design: how many people, and how long they will wait. Everything else follows.

For home-pickup routes, plan seat fill at 80–85%, never 100%. Leave, holiday, work-from-home days and the person who drives on Fridays mean a 40-seat bus reliably carries 32–34. Sizing at 100% produces a route that is full on Tuesday and embarrassing on Friday.

For metro feeder and campus loops, headway matters more than capacity. A 21-seat minibus running a 10-minute cycle moves 126 people an hour and nobody waits more than ten minutes. One 45-seat coach on a 25-minute cycle moves 108 an hour and someone always waits 24 minutes. The minibus loop is usually cheaper per employee and always better liked.

For shift changes, the constraint is the bay, not the road. Six coaches arriving at one boarding bay at 18:00 produces a queue of buses, not a fast departure. Stagger reporting by six to eight minutes per vehicle and the whole shift clears faster than a convoy would.

We will model this against your actual roster before quoting. The output is a vehicle mix and a headway, not a single number — and it is frequently smaller than what a company expected to buy.

Questions we answer daily

Do you run shuttle services to Manyata Tech Park?

Yes, on both home-pickup routes and campus feeder loops. Embassy Manyata covers 300 acres with 9.8 million sq ft, 35+ companies and over 150,000 professionals, so the operational question is never 'Manyata' — it is which gate and which block. We confirm the bay with your facilities team before day one.

How long does a bus take from Bellandur to Whitefield in the evening?

About 55 minutes for roughly 12 kilometres. That comes from TomTom's 2025 evening-peak figure for Bengaluru of 45 minutes 27 seconds per 10 kilometres, which is a 13.2 km/h average. Off-peak the same hop is around 43 minutes on the all-day average of 36 minutes 9 seconds per 10 km.

Can a 45 seater coach enter Bagmane Tech Park?

Access to campuses inside the Outer Ring Road, Bagmane at CV Raman Nagar included, is constrained by the approach roads rather than the campus itself. We design minibus-only routes for these locations and say so at tender stage. A 21 or 27-seater does the work a coach cannot do there.

What is a metro feeder shuttle and is it cheaper?

A short high-frequency loop between a Namma Metro station and a campus gate, usually run with 21-seat minibuses on an 8–15 minute cycle. It is the cheapest cost per employee of any shuttle product we run, because the vehicle covers very few kilometres and carries many more people per day than a home-pickup route.

How many buses do I need for a 400-person campus shift?

Fewer than the arithmetic suggests, because seat fill runs at 80–85% and because headway usually matters more than capacity. A mix of home-pickup buses on the two heaviest corridors plus a metro feeder loop typically beats an all-coach plan on both cost and employee satisfaction. We model it against your roster before quoting.

Why do you stagger bus reporting times at a tech park?

Because six coaches arriving at one boarding bay at 18:00 creates a queue of buses, not a fast departure. Staggering by six to eight minutes per vehicle clears the whole shift faster than a convoy. At constrained ORR campuses like Devarabeesanahalli, staging space at peak is the binding limit.

Do you provide shuttles for night shifts in Electronic City?

Yes. Night routes carry a trained escort through the night window, follow a no-last-drop-female rule, run a monitored panic button and live GPS, and are deliberately kept short — fewer stops across fewer corridors. Electronic City Phase 1 and Phase 2 are treated as separate routes rather than one.

How far in advance should a company plan a shuttle contract?

Four weeks from home-location data to go-live: a week for route design, a week for trial runs driven at real shift times, a week for the compliance pack and contract, then a shadow week live with a supervisor on the busiest route. Anything under three weeks means launching on untested run times.
