Bangalore to Mysore by charter bus
The only destination on our matrix where 300 kilometres of round trip lands almost exactly on the daily minimum — which makes it the rare Bengaluru getaway that prices sensibly as a single day.
In short
Mysore is 145–150 km from Bengaluru, a 300 km round trip that sits almost exactly on the 300 km daily minimum for a minibus. A single-day charter is therefore ₹10,200–14,300 in a 27-seater and ₹17,600–23,800 in a 45-seater, before tolls and GST.

Mysore charter costs, one day and two
The 300 km round trip meets the minibus and 33-seat daily minimum exactly, and falls 50 km short of the 45-seat minimum. That makes this the most honestly-priced single-day charter out of Bengaluru.

Why the single-day version works here and nowhere else
Every other destination on our getaway matrix punishes a one-day trip, because the class minimum bills 250–350 km for a journey that might cover 120. Mysore is the exception: at 145–150 km each way the round trip is 300 km, which is exactly the daily minimum for a minibus or a 33-seater and only 50 km short of the 45-seat minimum.
Practically that means you are paying for kilometres you actually drive. A 27-seat minibus at ₹10,200–14,300 for a full day, palace included, is close to the best value in Bengaluru group charter — and it is why school groups, college departments and company day-outs go to Mysore rather than anywhere further.
The other half of the reason is the road. This is a fast corridor with no ghat section, which means a 45-seater is not penalised by the route in the way it is on every hill destination. The constraint at Mysore is parking, not gradient.
Parking, the palace and the shape of the day
Mysore Palace is the reason most groups come and the reason the day needs planning. Coach parking in the palace area is finite and it fills, particularly on weekends and through the Dasara season. The workable pattern is to drop the group at the designated point, send the vehicle to park, and agree a pickup point and time rather than expecting the coach to be waiting where it dropped.
A realistic day: clear the last Bengaluru pickup by 06:30, reach Mysore mid-morning, palace and the immediate sights until early afternoon, Srirangapatna on the way back, and home before the evening peak rebuilds. Adding Shivanasamudra makes it a long day and is better done as the second day of a two-day trip than squeezed into one.
Dasara is a special case. Vehicle availability tightens across the whole Mysore corridor, city traffic during the festival is unlike the rest of the year, and parking arrangements change. If your trip falls in that window, book early and expect the itinerary to be built around road closures rather than distances.
Mysore as a stop on a longer route
Mysore sits directly on the road to Coorg, to Ooty and to Wayanad, which makes it nearly free to include on any of those charters — the kilometres are already inside the class minimum.
On a three-day Ooty trip, a Mysore morning costs nothing in vehicle terms and turns a driving day into a sightseeing day. On a two-day Coorg trip it is tighter: stopping properly at Mysore usually means arriving in Coorg after dark, which matters if your property is at the end of an estate track. On a Wayanad run it works well, because the Kerala border crossing is the timing constraint rather than daylight.

Questions we answer daily
How much does a bus from Bangalore to Mysore cost for one day?
₹10,200–14,300 in a 27-seat minibus, ₹12,000–14,900 in a 33-seat AC bus and ₹17,600–23,800 in a 45-seater, as charter subtotals before tolls, parking and GST. The 300 km round trip meets the daily minimum almost exactly, which is why this route prices better than any other day trip.
How far is Mysore from Bangalore by road?
145 to 150 kilometres each way, so a 300 km round trip on a fast corridor with no ghat section. That distance matters commercially: it is exactly the 300 km daily minimum for a minibus or 33-seater, so a single-day charter bills the kilometres you actually drive rather than a minimum you do not.
Can a 45 seater coach park at Mysore Palace?
Coach parking in the palace area is finite and fills on weekends and through Dasara. The workable pattern is to drop the group at the designated point, send the vehicle to park elsewhere and agree a pickup point and time. Do not plan on the coach waiting where it dropped.
Is a one-day Mysore trip realistic for a group?
Yes, and it is the only Bengaluru getaway where that is true. Clear the last pickup by 06:30, reach Mysore mid-morning, palace and surroundings until early afternoon, Srirangapatna on the return, and home before the evening peak. Adding Shivanasamudra makes it a very long day.
Should we do Mysore in one day or two?
One day works for the palace and Srirangapatna. Two days is worth it if you want Shivanasamudra, Ranganathittu or Nagarhole in the same trip — the second day costs one more day of class minimum and bata, taking a 33-seater from ₹12,000–14,900 to ₹24,000–29,800.
Do we need a permit for a Bangalore to Mysore bus trip?
No inter-state permit and no entry tax — both cities are in Karnataka. The vehicle needs a current contract-carriage permit, fitness certificate and insurance, and the driver a valid PSV badge. We send all four as PDFs with the quote rather than waiting to be asked for them.
Can we stop at Mysore on the way to Coorg or Ooty?
Yes, and it costs almost nothing extra because the kilometres are already inside the class minimum. On a three-day Ooty charter it works very well. On a two-day Coorg trip it usually means arriving after dark, which matters if your property is down an estate track.
Is a bus trip to Mysore good for a school group?
It is the standard Bengaluru school and college excursion for good reason: a fast road with no ghat section, a single-day itinerary that works, and pricing that lands on the daily minimum rather than above it. A 45-seater is not penalised by the route here as it is on every hill destination.
